snowflake adventures

At Holly Jolly Christmas the current challenge is Snowflakes and Sparkle.  Since my Holiday Catalog pre-order arrived Friday, I now own a new snowflake stamp and matching punch. :-)  As long as the snowflakes have six or twelve sides, I just can't seem to own enough of them.  There's also a new embossing folder designed to look like snow, and it was time for me to learn to use our Heat & Stick powder with my unopened (Never Before Used Schtuff) Stampin' Glitter:
stamp set - Flurry of Wishes; ink - Versamark, Encore Silver (retired - on envelope); Stampin' Emboss powder - Silver; Stampin' Glitter - Silver; card stock - Whisper White, regular and thick; punch - Snow Flurry; tools - Big Shot with Chalk Talk framelit and Softly Falling embossing folder, Heat & Stick powder, Stampin' Dimensionals

Whoo - I love it ♥ but with selective embossing around the sentiment, an embossed sentiment, and Heat & Stick powder + Stampin' Glitter, there were too many steps to use it at Card Buffet this week.  It needed to be a little simpler, so I decided the sentiment and snowflakes needed to be simply stamped.  I thought about blue, I thought about purple (setting that Pretty Purple Snowflakes song off inside my head again).  I couldn't decide, so I checked my challenge list.  I saw that The Paper Plunge suggested Basic Gray plus one color - I thought that might work - I still had to choose the plus one, so I went with  Perfect Plum to appease that song in my head:
stamp set - Flurry of Wishes; ink - Perfect Plum, Basic Gray; card stock - Whisper White, regular and thick; punch - Snow Flurry; tools - Big Shot with Chalk Talk framelit and Softly Falling embossing folder, Stampin' Dimensionals

Well, I just don't love it, so I tried one more time, this time going with Perfect Plum all around:
stamp set - Flurry of Wishes; ink - Perfect Plum; card stock - Whisper White, regular and thick; punch - Snow Flurry; tools - Big Shot with Chalk Talk framelit and Softly Falling embossing folder, Stampin' Dimensionals

I rarely make the same card more than once unless I'm preparing swaps, and here I've got three lovely Clean And Simple cards that don't qualify at any Clean and Simple challenges :(
This week is Anything Goes at Christmas Card Challenges and Holiday at Addicted to Stamps and More, though, so I'll link up there.
